Pakistan once a cannabis paradise, In 1960s and ‘70s, Pakistan was part of “hippie trail,” from Türkiye to India, which young Westerners traveled.

During this time, famous hashish markets of Peshawar were established. The hippies roamed around the hashish shops on their city’s streets.

Many of Pakistan’s religious communities use cannabis, such as Sufis and Hindus, Recreational cannabis use is also relatively widespread. Many people talk openly about smoking or consuming it on a regular basis. In contrast, consumption of alcohol is disapproved of
