Cannabis Movement Set to Rally in Bangkok Against the New Regulation

Pot activists vow to protest against the new cannabis regulation that the government aims to restrict cannabis use and prohibit cannabis shops without a prescription which could affect human rights as well as disrupt the entire cannabis industry

The Thailand Cannabis Association published a statement opposing new cannabis regulations that violate human rights, including destroying the grassroots economy, harassing small farmers, increasing the burden on patients, solving the wrong problem, and blocking public opinions. However, the association also announced a big rally in Bangkok on 5 June 2025 to Ministry of Public Health, 1.00 PM onward, Additionally, they demanded government to halt any decision right now and settle negotiation with the Ministry of Public Health in order to jointly find a peaceful solution at that day.
Meanwhile, The Writing Thailand’s Cannabis Future movement announced a big rally on 9 June 2025 at Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, 1.00 PM onward. The movement will submit a letter to Prime Minister: Paetongtarn Shinawatra as they aims to oppose the new cannabis regulation that could affects entire cannabis industry
Furthermore, Academics and the youth network had submitted 20,000 names of eligible voters against cannabis industry. The source stated that they required the strictest regulation to control it such as terminating household cultivation, banning 17,000 stores nationwide to restrict medicine distribution to clinics and hospitals, controlling herbal plants through serious medical law, and courage government to banning any recreational use .
